Why We Make
These Games
We grew up on Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, and Mario 64. Those games weren't just entertainment — they were pure joy delivered through a screen. That feeling of nailing a difficult jump, discovering a secret level, hearing the coin-collect chime — it was magic.
Champignon Studios was born in France from a simple frustration: the PC platform is starved of polished, joyful platformers. The indie scene gave us Celeste and Hollow Knight — brilliant games, but dark and gruelling. We love them. But sometimes you just want bouncy physics and a sunny adventure.
Every level we design starts with one question: does jumping through this feel great? If the answer is no, we rebuild it. We obsess over the physics, the audio feedback, the little particle bursts when you land a perfect stomp. It's all in service of that one feeling — the Saturday-morning joy of a great platformer.
